** TLC Questions From Mark 5:24-34 **

“The Healing Touch”

Jesus came into this world always moving towards His greatest work, the cross at Calvary. Along the way He encountered many people who were hurting and in need of His healing touch. In our story Jesus is on His way to heal the daughter of Jairus, but He is interrupted as He spots this weak, timid and desperate woman who had a great need to simply touch the hem of His garment.

1. (vs 21) Jesus crossed over to the over to the other side.

  • In what town or area did the boat return to?
  • Do you believe this was the base of His operations?
  • Why do you believe this crowd recognized Jesus?

2. (vs 23) “put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live”.

  • Why do you believe Jairus had such great faith in Jesus?
  • Do you think Jairus was a believer?
  • Do you believe Jesus knew there were two people who were hurting?

3. (vs 24-34) To get a better understanding of this story read Leviticus 15:19; 25-27.

Luke, being a physician, tells us in his Gospel she couldn’t be healed, yet this woman went from doctor to doctor and spent all that she had.

  • What does this tell us about this woman’s character?
  • Why is it that more people were not healed even though they pressed in on Him?
  • Was Jesus willing heal them?

4. (vs 22) Being an important synagogue officer, Jairus was no doubt a wealthy man,

but this woman was poor and unknown.

  • · What important characteristic did they have in common?
  • · Money and position never impressed Jesus one bit. What does?
  • · What does it take in our lives to push through the crowd of this world and touch Jesus?

5. After touching Jesus and receiving His healing, this woman might have tried to slip
away and get lost in the crowd, but Jesus stopped her and shared with her.

  • Why didn’t Jesus just let her go on her way?
  • What did He want her to know and understand?

6. (vs 34) Jesus makes a very important statement.

  • What do you believe Jesus meant by calling her “Daughter” ?
  • Do you believe she received more than just a physical renewing, if so what?

Think about the many ways this woman’s life relates to the multitudes in this world today who are desperately searching for the touch someone or perhaps some thing to bring relief in their lives.
