TLC Questions From Mark 5:1-15

“Victory Over Demons”

Jesus along with His disciples crossed the Sea of Galilee, and as their boat pulled up on the shore of Gadara they were met by a man who had been possessed by demons. This entire scene would seem unreal to us who live in so-called “modern civilization”, but not so for those who serve in the many mission fields throughout the world. Rather than “writing off” the man, Jesus set him free and helped him become a source of blessing for that whole region of Decapolis.

1. Demons are the hands and the feet of Satan, an extension of Satan. He
carries out his demonic deeds through evil spirits.

· What does this tells us about Satan’s ability to be everywhere at one time?

2. Who is the “one” Jesus is referring to in Matthew 10:28?

3. What assurance does 1 John 4:4 give to a “born again” believer?

4. (vs 6-7) Why is it that many times the first reaction people have to Jesus is
fear of rejection, fear of condemnation?

5. Jesus spoke to the storm (Mark 4:39) “Then the wind died down..” Jesus spoke to
demons (Mark 5:8-10) and the demons obeyed.

· What does this tell you about the Word of Go
How does this apply to your life? (re. Ephesians 6:17; Hebrews 42)

6. (vs 14-17) Who and What were the people more concerned about?

· How does this translate to the times we live in?

· What is given greater protection by law, an egg of an eagle (unborn eagle) or an unborn child?

7. (vs 12) Why didn’t the demons ask Jesus to send them into another human
being rather than the pigs?

· Do believe the demons caused the pigs to prefer suicide over living in
demon possession?

· Do you believe there is a link between the great number of suicides we see today and the influence of demonic forces?

8. (vs 18-20) Why did Jesus not permit the healed demoniac to go with Him?

· How does this apply to our lives now that we have been set free?
